European Journalism Institute, july 2009

This summer, join working journalists and journalism students together for a unique one-week seminar in Prague, the Czech Republic. The European Journalism Institute (EJI) will be held for a week in July in conjunction with the three-week American Institute on Political and Economic Systems (AIPES) Institute also sponsored by The Fund for American Studies (TFAS).

Institute participants gather to study the basic structure and functions of market economics in the context of such fundamental issues as competition, the role of government in the economy, environmental regulation, globalization, the functions of the price system, health and welfare economics and international trade. Participants will also discuss strategies on how to accurately report on news stories dealing with business, the economy, and fiscal policies.

Admissions

The European Journalism Institute seeks applicants with education or experience in journalism. Participants will be selected based on their qualifications and application materials.

To be considered for admission, one must submit the Online Application Form and the application materials listed on our website via our online application system Apply Yourself, mail, or by fax before the application deadline.

  • Typed, one page resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A published article
  • A typed essay not to exceed 500 words
  • A typed statement-of-purpose not to exceed 500 words

Scholarship

Admitted participants will receive scholarships covering 2 meals a day, housing, reading materials, and special events. Participants are responsible for travel costs, lunches, and personal expenses. Each participant will be required to pay at least $200.00USD.
