Chinese Language program in Taiwan
“Huayu Enrichment Scholarship”

The Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) offers 5 scholarships to citizens from Austria, Slovenia and Croatia in the academic year 2013/14 for the study of Mandarin Chinese.

Value of the Scholarship:
Monthly grant: 25.000 New Taiwan Dollars (about 640 Euros).
Attention: fees like travel expenses, tuition fees and health insurances, etc. are not paid additionally

Scholarship period:
From September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2014

Requirements for qualification:
• Austrian, Croatian or Slovenian citizenship
• Students are not eligible to apply if they:
- already received Taiwan scholarship or Huayu Enrichment Scholarship in the past
- are currently enrolled in a language or degree program in Taiwan
- will be part of a student’s exchange-program in the academic year 2013/14

• Proof of citizenship (copy)
• Photocopy of original official diploma or English translation of proof of previous study success (highest academic degree)
• Photocopy of the completed application form for a Chinese language center in Taiwan (see homepages of Chinese language centers http://english.moe.gov.tw/ct.asp?xItem=9693&CtNode=417&mp=1 / www.studyintaiwan.org)
• Two letters of recommendation
• Study plan written in English or Chinese
! Applicants who have participated in the TOCFL receive priority in the award of scholarships

Review & Selection:
After the successful submission of application material, the applicants have to do an interview on the 8th or 10th of May 2013 (personally or per webcam) with the culture division in Austria. The list of candidates will be published by May 15th 2013. Candidates are required to submit their admission letters issued by the Mandarin Teaching Institutions together with the originally signed “Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Terms of Agreement” to the Culture Division in Vienna by June 20th 2013.
