The University of Leeds is considered one of the world’s top 100 universities and UK top 10 institutions for research power. It is one of just a few universities that has brought the complete range of disciplines from Geology and Geophysics, Environmental Science, Meteorology and Climate Science, to Environmental Social Science together under one banner.


University also have one of the largest research clusters of Earth, environmental and social scientists in the UK and internationally. Entry Requirements
University normally considers applicants from all over the world. Applicants need to follow entry requirements in terms of standard British qualifications (A-levels, or a ‘good honours degree’). However, admissions tutors at Leeds are familiar with international qualifications and welcome applications from students with equivalent qualifications. If student consider themselves to be a good student within their own educational system, then it is likely there will be an appropriate entry point for them in Leeds.
 

English Language Requirements
If English is not student’s first language, they will need a recognised English Language qualification to be admitted onto any of the University’s degree programmes.
 

Undergraduate Study
Acceptable minimum qualifications include:

 

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component skill
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 87 (with no less than 20 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing)
  • Pearson (Academic) of 60 overall with no less than 56 in any component
  • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) of 169 overall with no less than 162 in any component
  • Trinity College Integrated Skills in English of a Pass in ISE II or above (if taken in the UK)

Postgraduate Taught Study
Acceptable minimum qualifications include:

 

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each component skill
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 92 with no less than 21 in listening, 21 in reading, 23 in speaking and 22 in writing
  • Pearson (Academic) of 64 overall with no less than 60 in any component
  • Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) of 176 overall with no less than 169 in any component
  • Trinity College Integrated Skills in English of a Pass in ISE II or above (if taken in the UK)

Postgraduate Research Study
Acceptable minimum qualifications include:

 

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component skill
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 87 (with no less than 20 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing)
  • Pearson (Academic) of 60 overall with no less than 56 in any component
