2007 Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP)
The Institute for the Development of Education on behalf of American Councils for International Education, and in cooperation with the US Embassy in Zagreb, Public Affairs Section, is pleased to announce the opening of the application period for the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP), a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The JFDP provides university lecturers and administrators with a semester-long opportunity (5 months) to expand their knowledge and expertise in their academic field and to learn about new teaching methodologies by attending classes and working with faculty members at universities in the United States. Finalists will depart for the United States in January 2007 and return to their home countries in May 2007.
Individuals may apply for fields in the humanities and social sciences:
American Studies, Architecture & Urban Planning, Arts Management, Business Administration, Cultural Anthropology, Economics, Educational Administration, Environmental Studies, History, International Affairs, Journalism, Law, Library Science, Linguistics, Literature, Peace/Conflict Resolution Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Public Health, Public Policy, Religious Studies, Social Work and Sociology.
Basic requirements:
• Croatian citizenship and permanent residency in Croatia
• Employment at Croatian university
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience as university lecturer or administrator
• University degree
• Proficiency in English
Not eligible: individuals who have participated in a program sponsored or funded by the U.S. Government since August 2004 for a period of more than six weeks.
The JFDP will provide for payment of academic fees, a monthly stipend for living expenses adequate to support one person, professional development money to purchase materials and attend professional conferences, medical insurance, and a round-trip air fare from home city to host university.
Applications are due in the office of the Institute for the Development of Education by 17:00 hours on Friday, September 8, 2006.
