Summer Institutes for Youth, North Carolina, USA

We are pleased to announce summer institutes for young Americans, Europeans, and Central Asians under the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Initiative. This initiative is intended to foster relationships among the younger generations of Europeans, Central Asians and Americans in order to build relationships between European and American youth, and to promote awareness of shared values in light of the global challenges of the 21st Century.

The Summer Institutes will enable teenagers ages 15-19 to participate  in a variety of activities such as training sessions, workshops, community-based programs, study tours, and cultural events. Participants will together prepare a joint project that promotes the stated goals and objectives of the Initiative.

There are two institutes in the summer of 2008, with 40-45 students each. Each institute will include 30-35 European and Eurasian students plus 10 Americans.

  • Institute A, "The Founders," June 28 to July 23, 2008 -- the participant age range is 15-17.
  • Institute B, "The Diplomats," July 5 to July 30, 2008 -- the participant age range is 17-19.

Deadline: February 8, 2008
