Scholarship / Financial aid: a monthly living allowance, a mobility allowance and a contribution to the training expenses

Bruegel is willing to host an experienced researcher for a period of 1 to 2 years and support his or her application for EU funding via the Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) Programme.
The researcher
- should have either at least 4 years of research
- experience in preparation of doctorate studies or already be in a possession of a PhD,
- can be of any nationality,
- should not have spent more than 12 months in Belgium in the last 3 years and
- should carry out his/her main research activities outside Europe at the time of his/her application.
Interested researchers from academia, think tanks and policy
institutions, as well as practitioners from policy and business institutions are thus invited to submit a short abstract (2 pages) describing the research they intend to pursue at Bruegel by 15 April 2013 to fellowship@bruegel.org
The research should be in one of the three areas covered by Bruegel 2013 Research programme: Global economics and governance; Finance and financial regulation; Competition, Innovation and sustainable growth.
Following a first merit-based screening conducted by a selection committee, Bruegel will then contact promising and short-listed candidates by 6th May 2013. These candidates will then be asked to submit to Bruegel by 3rd June 2013 a draft of their full proposal presented along the lines of the Marie Curie requirements (Guide for Applicant specific part IIF 2013). Bruegel will offer help in writing
the proposal which has to be submitted to Directorate General Research by mid-August 2013.
Please note that the applicant is responsible for checking the eligibility criteria for the Marie Curie IIF Programme. The selection will be based on the quality of the candidate based on the CV and a proven track record of publications and on the compatibility of the research project with Bruegel’s four main research pillars:
- European macroeconomics;
- Global economics and governance;
- Finance and financial regulation;
- Competition, innovation and sustainable growth.
The successful candidate will benefit from Bruegel’s research, administrative and promotional support. They will also be encouraged to actively participate in Bruegel’s collegiate output, including debates and media events as well as to submit papers for publication.
The fellowship offered by the European Commission includes a monthly living allowance, a mobility allowance and a contribution to the training expenses of the researcher.
