4 PhD Scholarship in Labour Studies
Scholarship Description
Program is divided in two stages: in the first stage the Examining Committee evaluates the qualifications for compliance with the criteria established by the Ph.D. Faculty Committee; in the second stage the candidates are interviewed by the Ph.D. Faculty Committee, in order to ascertain their preparation, skills and aptitude for scientific research and personal motivation. The interview also aims at verifying the applicant’s knowledge of the educational and academic areas specified for the Ph.D. and includes the applicant’s formal presentation of the research project(s) he/she proposes to conduct. (*For those foreign students who are not able to reach Milan for the interview, special on-line interviews will be set, by request).
Eligibility
- For Italian students a Laurea Quadriennale or Laurea Magistrale is required. These Italian titles are M.A. equivalents. B.A. equivalents will not constitute minimum requirements for admission.
- Foreign students must hold an academic qualification that has been declared to be equivalent to an Italian Laurea Quadriennale or Laurea Magistrale (i.e. an M.A. equivalent; B.A. degrees do not constitute minimum requirements for admission). In case their degree has not yet been declared equivalent to an Italian Laurea Quadriennale or Laurea Magistrale, candidates may apply to the Faculty committee of the Ph.D. program of interest for a declaration of equivalent value.
- Applicants who expect to graduate within the date of the first meeting of the Examining Commitees (the meeting is finalized to the evaluation of qualifications) are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate School.
- A good command of English is required.
Documents
To apply for the PhD programs prospective applicant needs to prepare some documents.
These are:
- a research project in English (max 2.500 words; only for the PhD in Sociology max 3.500 words);
- university career: Degree certificate in Italian or English with course examinations passed and final grade (self-certification for Italian citizen);
- abstract of graduation thesis (dissertation);
- curriculum vitae in European Format with a description of any professional and other qualification held by the applicant;
- other qualifications: any certification relative to any standardised tests for evaluating verbal, logical, quantitative, linguistic or other skills and competence such as GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, etc.);
- a list of publications and copy of each publication, the authenticity of which is decalred (by means of self-certification for EU citizen made in accordance with President Decree N° 445, dated 28 December 2000 - Appendix A - and by means of authentications for non - EU citizen who are not legally domiciled in Italy);
