SECOND CYCLE DEGREE/TWO YEAR MASTER IN ITALIAN CULTURE AND LANGUAGE FOR FOREIGNERS
Deadline: contstantly open
Scholarship administrator: | University of Bologna |
PROGRAMME AIMS
The degree programme aims to produce high-calibre Master’s
graduates with language/cultural and language/theoretical
skills in a European or extra-European foreign language, as
well as specific training in teaching foreigners Italian language
and culture.
Along with a broad background in literature, political and
cultural history, and Italian art and music, graduates will also
have a range of skills which will allow them to act as mediators
in intercultural situations as well as to manage competently
the challenges of the contemporary multicultural societies.
Their teacher training entails internships, placements,
laboratories and tailor-made training activities, answering
to the new job description of teacher of Italian language and
culture which our now multi-ethnic middle and high schools
require (a framework qualifying exam is currently up for
institutional approval).
The programme thus allows for gradual acquisition of skills suited to the two profiles (teacher of Italian languages and culture and expert on intercultural mediation). The first year is more specialist-weighted (teaching of Italian as L2): a series of complementary course units connected with languages, and others designed as an introduction to multiculturalism (pedagogy of inter-culturalism, anthropology of migratory processes). The second year hinges around the compulsory internship, which may also be conducted abroad. Over the two years students gain a thorough knowledge of two foreign languages.
